How to check a company in Finland (official sources)

Short answer. The official source is the PRH YTJ company and organisation search. Start there, then check what a register does not show.

Where. PRH YTJ company and organisation search: https://ytj.fi/en/index/companysearch.html

What you can see for free. Free search of basic details: Business ID, the registers the entity is in (Trade Register, Register of Associations, Register of Foundations, and Tax Administration registers), company name, company form, registered office municipality, main line of business, contact details, company situation (bankruptcy, liquidation or restructuring proceedings, if any), suspension of business, tax debt details, and the LEI code if issued (per PRH).

Steps.

  1. Search by name or Business ID.
  2. Check company form and situation (any bankruptcy, liquidation or restructuring).
  3. Check tax debt and suspension details.
  4. Compare name, Business ID and address with what the other party gave you.

What the register does not show. A registry record does not verify business activity, creditworthiness or sanctions status, and it is not a news check.

What a Dutiful report adds. For Finland: registry profile, company form, registered office, main line of business, and status and dates from the official register. Officers, owners, charges and financial figures are not covered. Plus a sanctions screen (OFAC SDN and UK Sanctions List) and a public news and web scan, with sources. Sample: /sample.
